Guys,
we have had a pond (about 2.5m x 1m) which leaked since we bought the house.
We decided to rip it out and lay a pebble pond and some patio.
when we finally ripped the pond out we were left with sandy sludge that would not drain away ( under the sand layer it was very heavy clay soil)
after draining as much of the water as possible i starting chucking in some old bricks and broken paving slabs.
now i have a squidgy base instead of quicksand but ( a bit late now I know) I thought i should check I am doing this correctly.

feeling a bit foolish now!!

cheers all

it will dry - if we ever get any sun that is!

place large hard core at the bottom down to smaller pieces as you get closer to the surface.

thats a relief
should i use anything to "fill the gaps" between the hardcore ( apart from the sludge I have at the moment)

bit worried as i only have about 15 inches to go!!

cheers
