I have fitted a new monobloc tap in kitchen and all seems OK except that after running the cold water and switching tap off it then gives a final drip after 15 seconds or so. How do I stop this?

The spout on kitchen taps comes up so when you turn the tap off , the spout remains full of water. I expect it's just the excess dripping out.

Scientific explanation.

A droplet of water will hang on a surface unless the gravitational force acting on the mass of water in it exceeds the surface tension forces holding it in place. (Watch the rain on a leaf.) What is happening is the water wetting the inside of the downward end of the spout slowly drains towards the end building up the droplet until it falls.

The solution is to stand and hold a piece of absorbent kitchen towel against the end of the tap for a couple of minutes hence preventing the droplet reaching its critical mass.

Alternatively you could just ignore it.
