Hi

I'm putting down an oak strip wood floor in my hallway. Was originally going to use medium oak lacquer, but as this is a high traffic area is that the best solution?

Floors in surrounding rooms are lacquered.

As walls in the hallway are very light, would like the floor a bit darker than natural oak.

Cheers

I would opt for an oak wood-engineered floor smoked and oiled natural. Darker floors in a light area will make the room seem wider

Oil can handle wet shoe prints better than lacquer (lacquered floors will show every foot print immediately) plus can be restored locally without having to sand the whole floor

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I've already got the wood, it's unfinished so looking for something to make it darker.

Any ideas?

Making the hallway look wider would be ideal.

Cheers
