Fire fighter.....

....from which you formed your skewed opinion, ok. (y)

Meanwhile, those that have an attention span greater than a goldfish and can read saw that there was a disciplinary
hearing and a tribunal. You must have skipped that bit when you quickly formed your opinion from the headline, lol.
You must have skipped the common sense and formed an opinion based on what you have just read and took it as literal.

I haven't read the detail, what was he sacked I heard it was not stopping others using the word
"..it was only the women that were affected, who cares..."

There are blokes on this forum that despise women and/or blokes that are frightened of them and then there are those that have a great respect for them. You can see the clear divide in this thread.

I love women its great that they have equal rights....

I still dont think that fireman deserved to lose his job
Based on what?

Here's what actually happened:

1) he wasn't sacked

2) the case was about bullying, not simply use of the word fireman.

Pete, do you think it is acceptable for people to get bullied in the workplace?

Pete, do you think if a person feels they are bullied, they have a right to report it?

It's all just a culture war anyway
It’s a little more than that. Fire crews are tight knit teams of four or five. Constantly calling a female member a fireman is targeted bullying and belittling behaviour that would give the impression we don’t want you here. I have some sympathy for the guy who was only a couple of years off retirement age. He was a convenient fall guy for management. But women can be put off joining up if they think they won’t be protected from the more extreme “banter”.

No, have you read it? he wasn't the one doing the bullying he didnt stop people who were saying fireman, a hard task probably.
