Hello there,

I have a living flame gas fire with a brass surround and brass front-grill/grate thing.

I can't afford a new fire but I can't stand the brass.

Is it possible to sand it down/key the surface and then paint it with black fire-proof paint?

Thank you

try sand blasting followed by a coat of zinc rich silcone base paint then a coat of heat resisted aluminum paint then a black

maybe billyo is thinking it`s solid brass ;) I`ll bet it`s brass plated base metal that`ll respond to your suggested treatment
