I am a carpenter and joinery of mature years having worked in commercial, domestic construction.
I own a timber frame semi-detatched property which has a brick dividing wall to my neighbour. It stops at first floor ceiling height and so my neighbour and I can effectively walk into each others property.
We want to construct a firewall. Access will not be a problem and I wish to use 47 x 100 softwood timber with 15mm fire rated pb on each side with insulation to the inside.
My query is what considerationg do I need to take to timber resting against a hot chimney...timber set bach by 20mm and pumped with fire rating foam?
or
box around the chimneys leaving 50mm gap?
Kind regards.
Paul
