Hiya!

I am knocking down the decorative part of my fireplace. It was chunky, took a lot of place, and made out of bricks.

Everything is going great, but I am unsure about this part. It looks like cement has been poored underneath what seems to me the structural arch lintel, and goes over the decorative arch that sticks out.

Do you think the arch lintel will be fine if I knock out some of that cement and the decorative arch?

Thank you for your help and advice!

Depends whether the supporting bricks for the original arch are still in place behind those new red facing bricks.
