Hi, I have seen the various posts regarding the cleaning of brickwork inside fireplaces but wondered if anyone has done it before and used a method they know works.
Basically we have opened up the original fireplace in our living room to reveal stunning yet sooty brick fireplace.. I've scrubbed at it with a stiff brush and water with some washing powder in and it just seems to have spread the dirt and not really made anything any cleaner. I've heard of using brick acid, white vinegar, oven cleaner but wondered if anyone has actually done this before and has a method that works....
