Can someone tell me if this price seems OK to fix our open firelpace?
The last peopple in our house put a mantlepiece in that is too wide for the chimney breast and just put breeze blocks or something at the side of the chimney up to the hight of the mantlepiece so it would fit, and papered it over. Anyway it looks crap and I want someone to remove it, fit a new simple surround, and refinish the surface so the fireplace looks Ok, maybe putting in a simple stone hearth.

The hole for the fire is a bit small as well so i would like it made a bit bigger so I could put a basket in to burn the coal and logs rather than the odd twig that will fit in there now.

Anyway someone has offerred to do it for a price that should be less than £1500 which seems very steep to me... Any thoughts?
