Well I have no idea what happened there but I thought I would give it one last try and hey presto - away she went!

Many, many thanks to all who contributed to a happy ending - it really is very much appreciated. Thank you!

All input most welcome!

As you know by now, its advised that only a competent person should open the combustion chamber. Normally thats a CORGI !

In your case you took on a replacement PCB fitting which required opening the combustion chamber.

You fried the first PCB and you have fitted a second but still it does not work.

Had you adopted the usual solution of a fixed price repair from British Gas you would have saved at least £100 and your boiler would have been working the next day after it failed.

I expect some of the CORGIs will be smiling at your predicament. I also hope the potential DIYers will have learnt that DIY is fine for painting, concreting and fencing but for something like a gas boiler where legislation requires a competent person then thats usually best. And in your case where an expensive part is involved then the BG fixed price repair is very good value.

I cannot guess what you have done wrong this time, but I do know that I cannot advise you on any gas safety related problems.
