Fitting a blanking plug

I have a 9 way underfloor heating manifold, but at the moment, am not using all the circuits. I have been provided with a number of 3/4" brass female blanking plugs to screw onto the 3/4"M brass stubs on the manifold. However, they are both parallel threads, and the plug screws all the way on until it bottoms out. The company says to use PTFE and / or sealing compound, but could anyone advise on the best technique to achieve the required seal?

A rubber washer in the bottom of the plug may work.
