Where on my micro genus 27 mffi should the drain valve be fitted ?In the past I have released intto a bucket but this gets messy! I now have to fit a PSV ,so I thought this would be a good time to fit a drain valve.
I should have said I am replacing a leaking PRV valve .The boiler is sited in the porch and all pipework goes up,therefore when I drain down using radiator draincocks the boiler is still full,so if I were to fit adrain cock to the CH return would this work?
Yes but if you look at the return isolating valve (furthest right) the it has a 'cap'. If you turn the valve off, remove cap, stick a bucket underneath and re-open the valve the boiler will drain in seconds.
Bleed all the radiators of air, close the auto air vent cap, open the PRV (and leave open), check the expansion vessel air pressure (see FAQs), when the water stops flowing replace the PRV....should be no need to drain the system or isolate the boiler.
