cove adhesive is ideal.
dry wall adhesive (almost the same product) is ideal.
both these products provide good initial grab, excellent workability, good sanding and filling properties, have wet brush tolerance and they have the ability go off at a swift predictable rate.
i would not recommend people use tile adhesive at any price.
