Hi,

My kitchen already has a electric oven and I am now considering fitting an electic hob to replace the gas one. Are there any regulations regarding doing this yourself and not using a electrician? We have a special circuit that already powers the oven I assume we can also supply the hob with it as well?

I am moving you from the "Electrics outside UK" to the "Electrics UK" forum. If this work is to be done in some foreign country please say

A rash assumption. Electric hobs usually take three or four times as much power as electric ovens.

What is the power rating of
- your oven
- your proposed hob
- the mcb supplying the cooker circuit

What size is:
- the cable supplying the cooker
- the cooker switch/controller

And about how old is your kitchen and you electrical installation?

Yes - see the articles in the Part P section of the Wiki.
