I am planning to fit zone valves to my CH system to separate the upstairs and downstairs radiators.

Whats the best way (if any) to insert a valve into an existing section of pipework where niether side of where I make the cut into the pipe can be moved up or down?

Is seems that with a valve with compression fittings I would have to cut a bigger section out, fit the valve and put a section of pipe in and solder a coupler on. This is ok but i'm thinking of future maintentance - the valve would have to be cut out again if it needed replacing.

Over here in the Czech Republic, valves with threaded fittings seem more common than compression ones. Is there any way one of these valves could be fitted and removed easily without having to disturb the pipework above and below?
