Fitting roller blinds to a batten in plasterboard

Would anyone be able to lend some advice about roller blind installation.

We have three windows in a chalet style house that run to the celing, ie there is not a recess as such that could lend itself to be a mounting point.

Presently there is a curtain rail for each window that appears to be attached to a wooden batten embedded in the plaster board ceiling.

We would like to replace the curtains with blinds so to maximise the window space and light, so blinds when rolled up would seem to be ideal as they have a very smaller space footprint.

My concern though is whether this wooden batton is strong enough to support roller blinds and the daily stress put upon then when using the cord etc.

I am loathed to make new holes in the plaster/uPVC and would prefer to use the batton, but would a 180cm blind be too heavy?

What other precautions can I make?

If your existing curtain poles have stood up to the weight so far without budging, I don't think you'll have any problems with the blinds.
Curtains usually weigh significantly more. Try undoing and retightening one of the screws holding the curtain rails.....its fairly easy to tell if they are gripping well.

I agree the ceiling mounted baton with be screwed to timber so very secure.

Just remember the curtains hold in heat blinds dont.
