Fitting shower tray over floor drain - waste question.

Hello All

I currently have a wet room which is 118cm wide and 2712cm long, the floor is completely covered with the usual thick waterproof vinyl with a designated shower area at the end with a drain set directly into the floor covering.

There is an issue with the floor slope so a lot of the shower water gets to the far end of the room when the shower is in use.

I hope to install a shower tray to fix this, I am looking at a shower tray that in 1100 x 800mm and want to fit it under the shower head, over the current drain fitted into the floor. (The intention is to get a shower wall and door too, to make it into a cubicle)

I can't figure out the best way to connect the shower tray drain to the drain in the floor, the only current ideas I have come up with are:

1. Raise the tray and fit a new waste exit through the wall above the current floor covering. (might need to have the tray a bit high to do this)
2. Cut the current floor covering under the new tray and fit new drain to exposed waste plumbing (this seems a bit destructive and no way of rolling back if it goes wrong)
3. Fit the new tray over the old floor covering and seal the edges, allowing the water to fall though the new tray drain, onto the wetroom floor underneath then exit via the current outlet (this feels a bit cowboy)


Can anyone make some better suggestions please?

IMO option 2 is the only one : 1. is out, as the ‘ lower the better’ is what everyone wants, and 3. Is just a recipe for growing mould and smelling damp all the time.
It’s good you’ve got ‘ no going back if its wrong ‘ mentality - it keeps the mind focussed and means you’ll do it right !

Thanks for the feedback.
I think I'll go with Option 2 from my list above, but it may be a few weeks until I get to it, so might use the divider thing for a short term fix until I get the proper tray in place.
