Fitting shower tray, question about waste.

Hey I am about to fit a shower tray. Its one without legs it sits flush on the floor so I'll bed it down with sand and cement. I just wonderd if there's anyway off testing the waste before I tile it in etc. As it can't be seen after connected. Any advice on this.
 
you need to have a floorboard up either infront or behind the tray in the direction of the waste pipe, so you can get your hand in there and connect the pipe, then pour a bucket of water down the waste to check it,
