Fitting Skirting Board

Hi All,

When fitting new skirting boards should they be fitted flush to the floor or is there a standard distance that they should be fitted from the floor. We are looking to remove a badly damaged laminate floor and replace with a carpet.

I would do it flush to the floor to avoid drafts.
