Hi.what is the best method to sink back boxes into brickwork?hammer and chisel,link drill,or is there a better or easier way?Thanks in advance.

Scutch chisel / bolster & club hammer & some brute force
Or on thermalite blocks / soft brickwork use a box sinker.
 
The best way to be kind to the wall is drill holes around the outside first. If it’s a single skin wall you will also eliminate the possibility of cracking the plaster on the other side. When chiseling out the rest, try to use the chisel at less than 90% to the wall that way you will also prevent damage to the other side.

Another tip, if the holes a bit uneven, use a stiff polyfiller mix to set the box in the hole. Then you can get it level and flush to the wall. Don’t forget to put the grommets in the knockouts first. ;)

Never fix the box with countersunk screws as the edge of the screws can damage the cables when the fascia is screwed back
