Fitting toilet

Got them off. Gonna try and stick plastic thing on left (fir edges) down with fixal and chip off old adhesive put spacers in

Gonna cut top tiles with angle grinder. Getting right disc today. Safest way with this tool- gloves, goggles snd clamped on ply up high? I've cut metal only before about five tiles with grinder and know how dangerous they are

What's your plan with the tiles, are you refilling the entire area? You don't want to cut the tiles in situ, thatll make a horrendous mess. I'm no tiler but I'd suggest you fit your bottom 2 rows and then offer up the top tile back to front and strike off a mark from the shelf (remember to leave a grout gap). Then take it outside and cut it on a bit of scrap wood or whatever. This way you can flip the tile and have the clean uncut edge along the top, with the potentially ropey cut hidden behind the cistern. Do it individually for each tile because theyll all be different looking at that shelf.

Also if you're going to fix the cistern back through the tiles, get a 6mm tile drill bit, you'll struggle to get through them with normal masonry bits

Did that I think. The gaps are a bit wide in places but so were some of the previous tiles (previous flat owner tiled) I left and followed at bottom. Grout tomorrow. Tiles will be hidden by cistern. Not sure whst you think? New toilet is close coupled so not fixing it through tiles.

Thinking of putting in pan before grouting. how do I sort soil pipe and old bolts then put new one in?

OP,
Why not cut the soil pipe flush with the wall - doing this will give you a lot more room play with.
