I am fitting windows to a house with very soft brick and have been told about something that clips to the frame and allows you to fix onto the inner blockwork. Does anyone know anything about this, what its called, and where I can find more info. Have looked at every single topic on theforum just in case, but never found anything. Thanks

They're called fixing cleats. They're basically strips of steel with holes in - you screw into the side of the frame, then stick your frame in the masons opening and fix through further holes into the internal walls.

The problem is whenever anybody tries to replace the frames in the future it makes a real mess of the plaster internally.

I could probably get hold of some for you if you email me at
