Fixing a 100m x 100mm beam abover garage opening

Hello,

I am installing an roller garage door on the inside face.
I am having to build a frame out because the existing lintel is set back and the sides for the runners are not plumb.

So I am using a fence post 100mm x 100mm 2.5 m

My question is what fixing is best used to fix into the existing concrete lintel and brick.

Resin anchors or concrete bolts to fix into masonry/concrete.

That lintel looks like a right bodge job - why is it supported on a piece of timber at one end?

Thanks I've never used Resin anchors before.
So not sure how easy they are ti install.
Concrete bolts would be easier, what size would you use?

Yes the lintel has been thrown in before we owned the property.
And yes wood at one end supporting

Resin is so easy.
Drill hole
Fill hole with resin
Push threaded bar in.
Wait for it to set which is 2+ hours.
Put nut and washer on to hold wood or bracket.
So simple.
Can buy the bar and nuts with washers or make your own . All the DIY sell.
Any resin but the styrene-free has very little smell.
Just get the cheapest one.
Make sure you buy one that fits standard mastic gun Vs special mastic gun which is way bigger.

Run a bit of resin out on cardboard as it mixes in nozzle and shoot in holes.

I tape up thread where nut will screw on as dried resin is hard to get off if you accidentally get some on thread causing nut not to tighten

Q.What size hole to drill.
A.Don't really matter as long as bigger then threaded bar.

I'd be a bit concerned fitting a roller shutter to that lintel, especially when it's spaced off with a chunk of timber and with that constant turning force every time the shutter goes up or down, not like there's much masonry above pushing it down.

Forklift hit bolted to floor equipment at local factory where my mate works and metal bolt snapped Vs resins giving out.

It's wicked stuff hence don't get any on threads .
If you can get a good hole it will be fine. Go deep if you want.. Cut bar to correct length

To me that all looks a bit unstable and could do with a bit of attention. If the new beam is sitting inside on the piers I would use an 8x2 (fence posts aren't structural timber), coach bolted through the mortar joint between lintel and brickwork above. Trying to drill a precast lintel could crack it or you could hit rebar. With the money you save on not buying resin you could empty a few tubes of no nails onto the timber before you bolt it up against the masonry, this will bond it all together.
