I need to know how a new flight of stairs attaches to my first floor landing. i intend to make a new flight with half landing and then another flight going into the loft.

At the moment i need to pinch a bit from the bathroom to make room for the new flight and understand i need to leave 800mm of space to go up the stairs.

I have exposed the trimming joist where the current flight comes up and at the side i will place my new flight.

I really need to know how the new flight attaches here. Does it come back quite a bit? if so i will need to take away more of my bathroom and i want to cut away the minimum possible.

I am assuming it sits on the current trimming joist, but by how much? 100mm??

I will explain more if this is not clear enough.
