Hi!

We have bought a house and it has a pretty old garage with asbestos walls and roof. I am planning to replace it eventually but it will take couple of years to save for a new one.
Meanwhile, I would like to make sure that any asbestos relevant risk is minimised.
There are several cracks on the walls and previous owners have used thick masking tape to cover them, then painted over. This has been done a long time ago and in some places the tape has came off or peeling.
I would like to replace the tape but not sure what is the best way to have the problem solved. Should I go the same way and reapply the tape? Or use some other material?
I need some inexpensive solution but it should last couple of years and be safe.

Thank you!

How about plastering scrim bedded into paintable mastic/adhesive, then overpainted?

My favourite(y) - Flashband over it's special primer. Just prime over what's there, old tape etc. so as not to disturb the asbestos, then press the flashband on. It can be painted over- shed paint covered my repairs to an old shed.
