Replacing Asbestos Garage Roof

What would you consider the most economical way to replace an asbestos roof on a 24' X 12' concrete panel garage?
The roof stucture has purlins at about 3' centres, bolted to concrete 'rafters', and corrugated asbestos attached by 'J' bolts hooked round the purlins and the tops of the wall panels

The place is up for sale, and the rather tatty but weatherproof asbestos garage roof has put a couple of potential buyers off.

IMO stripping the old roof would cause more of an asbestos hazard than leaving it alone, but I'm not buying the place!

Its asbestos cement, which doesn't carry the dangers of Amocite or Crocilodite.

Look on the HSE website for clarification.

Easiest solution is to fix battens in the troughs and overdeck it.
There isnt really a cheap solution to this thats why there are hundreds of thousands of these garages still around in this country..

You can remove the asbestos your self if you use the right health and safety gear and take it to your local waste centre if you call them before..

Eternit roofing make cement fibre sheets which will be the proper way to replace this.. However this is not really a diy job as they require some cutting to install them. it would depend on your ability i suppose.

There are other types of roof you could use but this would be the most suited to what you already have in place..
