Due to lay engineered wood floor in the next week or 2, and want to fix down the squeaky floorboards before I do. Is there an easy way of determining if theres any pipes or cables running under them, so not to drive a screw through them without knowing?

Any tips/pointers greatly appreciated

There are quite a few 'finders' on the market, which I'm sure you'll agree, and pretty good they are for what they cost and do. However, they wont tell you how deep any pipes or cables are so there could be huge risk involved just bunging some screws in.
Personally I wouldn't dare risk it.
John :)
