Fixing Extending Canopy to Random Stone

My wife’s decided we need a sun canopy so will be looking at getting a cassette type. My issue is we have a property built with random stone. Before buying one I take it I can just pack the attachments with some sort of spacer and use longer fixings? Any suggestions for best type of fixings and spacers.

Attach a timber batten to the wall first, fixed at multiple points and packed off to make it straight. That way you will be able to get sufficient screws into decent stonework to carry the load. Then fix your cassette to the batten. I suggest treated softwood with Enseal applied to the cut ends. Gaps behind the batten between it and the wall can be filled using trowelling mastic
