Fixing iron mantle piece above fireplace- It's fallen Off!

Hi,

Victorian house. The iron mantle piece has come away from the wall and is now on the floor. It looks slightly bent.

I can't see an obvious way to reattach it. Its quite heavy and I imagine it will need some good fixings?

Any ideas.....

Fireplaces and the like usually have a fixing lug that ends up concealed when buried in the plaster.

Does this shelf have anything similar? Or is it meant to be attached to the fire surround?

Thanks for reply noseall.

The bracket attachment thing!? had fallen to bits so I have managed to get a new fixing and make it good again. It all attached to the fire surround on lugs.
Sorted now, thanks goodness!
