What adhesive should I use for fixing plasterboards using dot & dab method? and how thick and at what spacings should the dabs be

you dot and dab plasterboard adhesive every 4 to 6 inches then offer the plasterboard up to the wall and check with your level to make sure it is plumb
 
dots and dabs should be solid dabs up the left, centre,right, skirting line and ceiling line due to smoke travelling around the back of the boards in the event of a fire, also solid dabs around gas pipes in the event of a leak travelling around the boards.
 
Many thanks for you advice can you also tell me what adhesive I should be using.
