Fixing Stair railing - looks to be glued only

Just moved into new home and at top of stairs, railing looks to have been glued to wall multiple times and has come loose from wall. . Doesnt seem to be screwed into anything and there is no stud there to anchor into. Anyone have any ideas on how I can repair this?? Thank you!

if it was mine i would install a timber ground,but this means cutting a rather large hole into the plasterboard wall and fixing a noggin in between the studs,re-plasterboard and dec then screw your rail into the wall.this makes sure you get the correct fixing for it,and it shouldnt be a problem again.
