I'm trying to work out how to fix timber (to mount a gate) to an intermediate concrete fence post...
My thinking is to add fixings as shown in the image but I'm not sure there is enough meat there and the concrete may well crumble away. I'm also sure there is some re-enforcing in there somewhere and such I'd probably not get enough depth before hitting it.
My other thought is to put some 2" x 3/4" wood in the recess and fix through the middle of the 'H' but that would depend on getting timber the exact depth and I'm not sure whether this is possible - I'd rather not have to rip some wood down to make it fit as that would remove any tanalising or other protection the timber may have.
How is this normally done?
