Fixing wardobe to plasterboard dot and dab wall

Hi guys,

Putting together some IKEA PAX and at the step of fixing the top of it to the wall. The wall in question is a dot and dab wall and I am wondering the best fixing to use. I know corefix is used widely for heavy hanging (kitchen cabinets etc.) but I also know that when fixing wardrobes the force is not acting down like hanging but instead it's a pull force to prevent wardobe toppling

So...are corefix suitable for this? do they offer enough pull force strength or is another fixing better?

something like hollow wall anchor (the biggest size that fits the gap) or grip it or something?

The corefix's or similar would be fine, you want something to anchor in the masonry not cling on to the plasterboard. If the screw is tight to screw in you'll know you've got a good strong fixing.

You can always put a strip of wood on the wall out of sight behind or just above the wardrobe, screwed into studs or into block/brick, and then secure to that. Skirting boards are 2cm, so a 2cm ply board or random bit of floorboard would do the trick (spot the DIY bodger!).

Thanks lads! Yep I thought as much that getting into the block would be important!

I actually removed the skirting behind it because I plan to make it ‘built in’ so it’s relatively flush to wall! I did think about a thinner but of ply as a brace on the wall to screw into and have that wood secure with 2 core fix. That could be classic overengineering tho
