Hi.

I'm building a fence in my front yard to replace the itred chain link fence that was there when I moved in.

There is a servicable concrete post already there, which I don't want to have to remove, however I equally don't want to drill six holes into very hard concrete.

I am therefore looking to attach two wooden fence posts to the concrete post (one either side).

I've seen this done elsewhere using what is basically a Jubilee / hose clip that is of large enough diameter to fit round three 10cm square posts. Does anyone know what these large adjustable metal bands are called, as I can't find them anywhere.

Alternatively, feel free to tell me why my plan is insane and what I should do instead...

thanks

things to keep in mind
front fences are usualy restricted to 3ft or 1m in height

some houses as part off a complex often have covenants restricting fencing to an open type
have a look if your on a complex and see what other people have done if no fences exist then fear the worst

Already checked with planners, and it is restricted to 1m, which isn't a problem in this case.

Fortunately it is in a street of 1930's semis, so there are no such covenants in place, and the next door neighbour is on board (after all they are getting a ratty chain link fence replaced with a nice wooden one for free...).
