Thanks to this site I replaced a split diaghphram in the 3 way valve in my eco 80 boiler a few moths ago. Recently however the flow of hot water has not been consistent. It takes a while to heat up and once up to temperature it will flow OK for 20-30 seconds and then reduce drastically for a while and then speed up. No great problem........... unless you're in the shower!! I know it's supposed to be healthy alternating between hot and cold but I'm nesh and prefer a constant temperature. Any ideas out there?
TIA,
Alan.

If you mean that the water pressure is constant but just goes hot and cold, then it sounds as if the plate HE is blocked.

No. Flow is not constant. Can be in full flow & then cuts down to about 1/3rd. This keeps repeating. Also the radiators are getting warm tho' the heatings not on.

I presume the diverter is in the 3 way valve? Easiest option replace the whole valve? To be honest I'm willing to pay a plumber to sort it out but nobody wants to know about small jobs.
Cheers,
Alan.

I personally do not know of any heating engineer who would class this as a small job and turn it away

In Newcastle there are plenty of plumbers who have too little work to do.

Even in London we would charge £84 + £132 = £216 and many would charge more!

Perhaps you dont ask the right question when you call plumbers?

If you start by calling me and say "this is only a little job" then I know that what you mean is that you only want to pay £30 and its easier to say that I am too busy than waste 20 minutes explaining that it is not a small job and will take about 1 and 1/2 hours and involves an expensive part.

You would be better calling a boiler engineer than a plumber.
