Hi,
I have a bit of an issue around the rear patio doors at my house.
The paint is flaking and there is a bit of mould.
By looking at the pictures how do you think I should tackle this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Alex

If its an older house, maybe there is no cavity closure and or missing a vertical dpc.

It can result in plaster touching the external skin or if brickwork returned then there can be a thermal bridge and the plaster is getting very cold and suffering condensation.

You would need to chip off some plaster and possibly remove trim to see more.

The house is late 80s. I'm guessing that the doors are not original.
I think the trim is wooden, not plastic but not 100 per cent sure. I'm guessing IF it is wooden this wouldn't help either.
On the picture, if I remove the trim, should there be a dpc where the green line is to prevent contact effectively between the outside and inside?
I also think that possibly when I painted the walls a few years ago, I may have painted silk emulsion on that part as it was also on the interior walls (it was my first house and I was a rookie)
Many thanks
