Hi

To get straight to the problem. The living room light wouldn't switch on this morning knocking the trip switch affecting all the ground floor lights. At first thought it was a bulb, it has 10 of the very small bulbs halogen i think, but when i checked them all i couldn't see any obviously blown. I reset the trip switch to try it again and there was a small flash from the ceiling fitting which knocked everything off again.

This light was fitted by myself about a year ago and has worked fine until today. Before i take it apart i was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Basic wiring i can usually manage ok but is this likely to be something wired incorrectly or a fault with the light.

Thanks in advance for any coments.

A loose wire, or if they are 12v maybe a transformer.

Sounds like you know which lamp is 'in region' of the cause. Start there, I'd expect to see some arcing or soot in the area of failure due to you mentioning the 'flash'.
