Hi ya all :D
I want to make a dummy security camera, ok, I know you can buy them but I want to make one that makes the local yob culture that is currently slashing tyres etc in our area think "is that a camera". Anyway what I am asking you all is, where can I buy a simple LED (flashing) unit that runs off a 9v battery, or where can I get the bits to make it myself. Cant afford proper cctv yet so this is a cheap compromise.
Cheers

s*d the cameras.....buy a baseball bat.....

even better still jump on ebay and look at some of the very cheap cameras that they have on there.

My view is that it will only escalate things more. If you want to do something about it, and if it is going to escalate the behaviour anyway, you might as well catch the action on camera. A flashing light means nothing when you need an order or want to prsecute yourself.

Hey, I've thought about that, and some times I've been close to sorting the b,stards out, but you have to be so careful in this day and age cos of the way the law protects this scum. I actually grabbed hold of one lad a couple of months ago after I caught him launching conkers at my daughters new car. Trouble is , the more you confront them, the more **** they give you. So I'll try the dummy camera and if that dont work me an my mates will sort em.

I believe in philosophy that is called lex talionis which is a justification of the retributivists theory of punishment.

In short an eye for an eye. Not necessarily the right answer but who am i to advise after all i'm only a ? :roll:

The problem I find with dummy cameras, is they do really look fake....but I suppose you need to try it first....the good thing about dummy cameras is that it wont record you giving the little s**t a strict telling off :wink:

Try Maplins or Tandy. They will sort you out.

Tandy? they sold out to "carphone ware house" years ago
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As for a circuit to make a LED flash, why bother? you can get flashing leds (only a battery required.)

The other thing is real cameras do not have flashing leds (so thats a waste of your time) in fact the only leds most cameras have now are infra red, so they can see at night.

I would go with the option of e bay

throw a bucket of water over them! you could always say you were washing the car :wink:

What , no Tandy ? You'll be telling me there's no Wimpy's next . There you go Breezer, it shows how often I go shopping as there was a Tandy the last time I went into the city centre.
