Hi - recently had whole house rewired and the front room has three dimmer switches. The main overhead light keeps blowing light bulbs but put this down to the fact that they were energy saving and not dimmable. Have now replaced this with a dimmable bulb...but now it is intermittedly flickering.

Apart from being annoying, is this normal - going to replace the dimmer switches as, to be honest, they are more nusiance (seemed like a nice idea at the time)

Do you mean an incandescent lamp, or a CFL which is claimed to be dimmable?

If the latter, you also need the right sort of dimmer - it needs to be compatible with the lamp, and sometimes they require a minimum wattage.

It's also possible that the dimmer is now shagged.

Or that you have a dodgy connection somewhere.
