Flight delay.

Original flight was with easy jet at 15.15 on Friday from Antalya to Birmingham that got cancelled (technical issue with the plane)

They offered me Gatwick 23.30 Saturday, which I then called and changed to 14.30 saturday to Liverpool, they put us up another night in a hotel and put on a car from Liverpool to Birmingham.

Been doing a bit of reading and the Martin Lewis website seems to say we might be entitled to £520 per person compensation so £1040

It didn't really cost me loads more it was just the hassle.

Anyone ever had a situation like that should I try for compensation or just let it go?

I have never been in this position.

But I would certainly claim £1000 if it was available.
 
I was stranded in Marseilles by EJ a few years ago. 10:30pm flight, cancelled in the departure lounge. Told to go on-line and rebook. of course this was in the middle of the school holidays and all the flights were full for days. booked a hotel for the night got the first TGV to Paris, a taxi and Eurostar and was home just after lunch. EJ paid all my costs and gave compensation.

Did you have to pay for the extra flights? As I didn't.

All it cost me was about £50 for a meal and £61 extra parking at Birmingham
 
So you get that and the compensation

my experience is they usually reject your first claim - arguing it was beyond their control, once you restate your rights they will offer less than the full amount. You then decide if its worth accepting or going for the full claim.


In my case they refund the leg of the cancelled flight and paid my hotel, train, taxi etc.
 
There are rumours that the airlines maintain a suckers list of those who don't claim, purely to track their liabilities of course.
 
Got nothing from TUI just a big f*ck off pill. But they are the losers cos I have spent at least £7.5k with other holiday companies since but would never even consider using TUI again, ever!
