We are looking to replace the whole floating ball arm mechanism.

The pipe connection is confusing us. Is it as simple as undoing the nut and lifting the old fitting out and inserting the new fitting?

Not clear to me what makes the plastic to metal waterproof. Is it mastic, PTFE tape, a washer, or (hopefully not) an olive.

My usual thanks in advance. Always found this forum a big help.

Many thanks for that.

It's an old school ball valve on an arm, there's not room in the cistern for the flomaster modern type.

To recap, it's literally undoing the brass nut, undoing the plastic nut, and doing the same in reverse with a new fitting with a brass shank and tightening up the brass nut?
