any ideas on how to stop fixings pulling out of plasterboard walls?? Have tried plasterboard raw plugs of varying sizes but weight of shelf is pulling everything out - help!

your plasterboard will either be fixed to wooden studs, or to a block wall

Find out which it is

If studs, fix into them. You may need to put a batten on the wall to span two or more studs and fix the shelves to that

If blocks, drill through the plasterboard and fix to the wall. You will need bigger screws and plugs

Floating shelves apply a lot of leverage to the wall so they need a very strong fixing.

Floating shelves are unsuitable for plasterboard walls and the quality ones state that on the instructions, you can secure them but takes considerable time and effort.
The bracket needs securing by the multiple fixing holes which do not correspond to the position of studwork and have to be so tight as to buckle plasterboard fixed via dot and dab [glues on].
