we bought a new house and have a chimney breast in lounge below. We wanted to check if to remove it. We ripped the plaster board to check structure. We noticed a wall above chimney breast. The wall to the left and right of chimney breast at top is unsupported? Is this right? Pictures attached.

Looks like they've extended the floor space of the room that's behind that yellow wall
Is it just studwork above that block / lintel ?
I assume that the chimney breast has been removed in the room above ?
