Hi all,

I am trying to plan the route for a twin wall flue (for a woodburner) through my house. I have taken measurements, inspected under floorboards and have planned my desired route. The problem is I need to pass between 2 joists that are only 260mm apart. This doesn't give me enough clearance according to regs (50mm distance either side of 200mm flue pipe to combustible materials). Can I remove the section of joist and use a splint to move that section another 50mm away from the pipe? Here is a diagram of my current situation.

Thanks

You could line the faces of these joists with an intumescent composite sheet...pinenot :)

Oh didnt realise it would be that easy...so I could use something like Supalux sheet?

Supalux would work, as would any fireproof sheeting...pinenot :)
