Hi, we have dug up the quarry tiles and screed like material of our 1935 kitchen floor due to damp and salts, which took it down to what seems like the top of the sub floor. We then put a damp proof membrane down joining just up to the damp proof injection in the walls as to not bridge it, put down a sand/cement mix of nearly an inch then used Wickes deep base leveling compound, but it's still uneven in places by 3mm or so.
I want to put kitchen suitable laminate down with 5mm underlay.
1) Do I need to put another damp proof membrane down before the underlay?
2) What's the best way to level the remaining unevenness out, i.e. put more deep base compound down, or will it crack up to 2-3mm thick?
I hope I haven’t missed anything like priming which i saw on here after we'd did it, doh! Only we are on a tight budget and have to be careful of the thickness due to the back upvc door opening onto it.
