Floor tile adhesive removal?

Guys, I am trying to fit a nice plastic finishing trim at my bathroom door as the brass bar is like a banana after years of punishment from the family. I am trying to fit the trim rail but have been greeted with this big splurge of tile adhesive. How best can I remove this to get my trim rail fitted?

I know nothing about tiling but I can fit a finishing bar if I have a straight surface to work with ha ha

If it were me, I'd use a bolster chisel and be careful not to catch the tile edge.
