I am about to order some engineered flooring from one of two suppliers. The flooring is virtually identical except for plank length. One is 1100mm and the other is 1800mm. The latter is around £6 sqm dearer. Apart from the obvious advantage of less planks for the longer stuff, are there any other advantages that would make paying the extra worthwhile? The room is fairly long at around 25ft

Are you sure all boards would be 1100mm?
If anything, longer boards mean fewer joints (which can act as hinges, so the fewer the better)

The length is also the visual look when it is down, you say the room is long so it will give you a lot better visual effect.
