Hi all, I was looking at a wiring diagram for connecting this light up to the connection block, the problem I have is where do the live supply/next light supply/and switch go to, I'm confused by the four wires going into the block from the light, the live has a brown and white and the neutral has two blue going into it, this will be my first light, the other two are connected from this one with the L & N plus earth.

For what it's worth the fluorescent lights that I've just installed only had connections for live, neutral and earth. They didn't include extra terminals for permanent live vs switched live, and clearly expect these to be dealt with elsewhere either by looping in at the switch or by separate junction box.

You appear to have at least one unused connection on that strip though, so could you use that, if it would accommodate three wires?

Unused - Permanent live from circuit + Live to switch + Live to next separately witched light

Brown - Switched live (return from switch) + Switched live to next light on same switch

Where are the earth connections?

The connection that had two screws in the middle will be for the earth.
There is usually a metal tag to connect into that extra screw to connect the metal to earth.

The other unused is the loop through to be used as you wish.

Thanks for that andyPKR, there is a metal tag that the block screws to, that I know, do you think you could send me a diagram on how this should be wired up please

A picture of what u currently have would help.
Is it a rose?

Generally working left to right

all the reds go into the spare block.
The single black (with red marker) into next block
The earths into next.
The 2 blacks together go into the last block.

Look at the wiki at the top

Are these lights all to be operated by the same switch(switches if two) or are you having each light on a separate switch?

This was how I was going to wire it up, but as in my last photo those wires coming from the light have confused me

Don't let the wires at the light confuse you.
Just continue as u were.

I assume this is a new install in a garage.

I have posted a photo, it's a block connection in the light

Why the confusion it's the same set up, switch live to brown of fitting, neutral to blue of fitting, CPC/earth to earth terminal (this must be reconnected to the metal tag of the fittings metal casing), then you loop the perm live in at the spare.

All off one switch
Okay then that is different, you just connect across the fitting don't need to loop a perm live, switch live only. so all browns to brown of fitting, all blues to blue and same with the CPC/earth.

If the switch live is connected to first terminal in the block, then surely the white and brown wire that is going into the live block needs to be removed and put into the other side of the switched live, please look at first photo I posted, those wires in the block already come from the light fitting, I need to connect up a supply/feed to two other lights & one switch

If all these lights are operating on the same switch line.
Just put put the switch live cables in the terminal containing the brown/white.

Is this a new circuit, have you already got a switch connected?

If it is new circuit there are couple of standard ways of creating the supply and switching arrangement:
*Supply through the switch
*Supply through the light

If you are looping in at the light as the diagram shows that you posted, that would be one method, but you only need a supply in, the outgoing supply would instead be connect to the switch line, rather than the perm live.

If going through switch you connect the perm live to com and can either connect neutral in connecter, to keep continuity are use a two pole switch and connect neutral via the neutral pole.
Then follow the parallel lighting link.
If the intention is to have a single switch function, if you intention is to have a second switch also operating the lights as a two way, you will require strappers (three core and earth) between the switches.
