There's probably one flue per fireplace. Your proposal is inadvisable since water vapour in the extracted air will condense on the cold brickwork and may cause damp problems. You'd need some sort of flexible insulated liner IMHO. It is not an insurmountable problem, but would need quite a lot of money, for an extract fan, to make it workable.
