hi tony,i'm a little confused here(not difficult to confuse me!!)hehe, this flue situation is in a rented prop and has been issued a B.G. safety cert for a number of years,am thinking have they just been ncs'ing it all this time? and if so is it ok to still give it same catagory as it's already in place the boiler is years old as is the extractor,i'm just concerned that they are virtually right on top of one another by that i mean maybe 3/4 to 1 inch of space between,if it is ok to issue a LL's safety cert i would think its at least AR does anyone agree here or should the extractor be moved?

thanks

Its quite possible that no one has ever looked at the flue. many people seem to issue LSCs without doing the most basic of inspections.

My view is that without a closing grill its properly classed as at risk within 300 mm.

CORGI say its OK at 300+ mm IF it has a grill. I dont agree because they fail so easily but thats another matter.

If its over 300 mm without a closing grill then thats a more difficult decision.

In reality it all depends on the actual boiler and flue. Many very forcibly eject the POC in a narrow stream. Others dont. Then there are the side outlet flues with the slots on the side. They give a fan shaped discharge which give a greater chance of POCs entering the grill.

cheers tony,

am going back to check this 1,cant remember if its a fixed steel louvre grill or a closable 1, i'm inclined to aire on the side of caution and move the fan grill over,LL is pestering for his LLSC which at this point i have declined him, arrrrg the power of the force is strong huh!!!
